"SIR THOMAS HENRY HALL CAINE (1853-), English novelist (see 4.949), was created K.B.E. in 1918, in recognition of his war services, especially in propaganda work. In 1914-5 he edited King Albert's Book, a cooperative contribution in honour of Belgium. In 1916 he wrote a play The Iron Hand; another play, The Prime Minister, was produced at the Royalty theatre, London, in 1918.
