"SIR ADOLPHUS WILLIAM WARD (1837-), English man of letters (see 28.319), was knighted in 1913. His history Germany1815-1890(1 st vol. 1916, 2nd vol. 1917) was a notable addition to his published works, together with various chapters in the Cambridge History of English Literature.
