QUEENSTOWN, a town of Montagu (Family)|Montagu county, Tasmania, on the Queen river, 23 m. by rail by Strahan, and 353 m. W. of Hobart. It is the centre of the Mount Lyell mining district and has numerous smelting works, brick-works, and sawmills.. The county is mountainous and finely wooded. Pop. (1901) 5051; of the district, 10,451.
